Emergency Room Errors
It is not unreasonable to expect that, when we seek medical attention at a hospital emergency room, we will be treated efficiently and properly by the doctors and nurses on staff. While emergency room physicians are often required to make medical decisions and diagnoses for a lot of patients in a short period of time, many emergency rooms are understaffed and not equipped to handle the patients that need their help. Often, emergency room patients are overlooked or mis-treating, resulting in serious injuries or death.
Examples of emergency room errors are too numerous to list here, but the following are common examples often encountered in our practice:
- Failure to diagnose a medical condition
- Medication errors
- Failure to order the necessary tests
- Misdiagnoses
- Failing to provide timely care
- Failing to consult with the proper doctors
- Nursing negligence
